My Journey So Far

Started out in retail
I started out in retail, working in a carpet department where I first learned how much I enjoyed helping people choose something that would genuinely improve their home. On my days off I’d go out with the fitters, watching how they worked, picking up little skills, and slowly learning the trade from the ground up.
What began as helping out turned into something bigger. A £5 Gumtree advert changed everything — it took me from being the extra pair of hands to becoming a full‑time carpet fitter. That one small advert opened the door to eight years with a major carpet chain, where I built experience, confidence, and a reputation for doing things properly.
Eventually I went out on my own, selling carpets directly and fitting them myself. It was rewarding, but the physical toll was real. After years of lifting, kneeling, and long days on the road, I knew I needed a change. That decision wasn’t easy, but it pushed me toward a new chapter with more balance, stability, and time back for myself and my family.
Every step — retail, fitting, self‑employment — shaped who I am now. It’s the reason I created my website: a calm, positive space where I can share what I’ve learned, help people in simple ways, and build something that reflects my journey rather than replacing it.
